What is a die? According to the dictionaries, a die is anything you can use to play that can be thrown in the air and has different drop positions. Each of those faces or positions will contain different information that will generate one consequence or another according to the rules of the game. Usually the information comes in the form of numbers and usually has six faces, but there are many varieties of dice.

They are a game of chance and bets by their own right, but also they are protagonists of a multitude of table games in which it is not played by money but that the chance marks the strategy to follow the player (role games, parcheesi, etc...).

As we said, the most common thing is that they are cube shaped and the numbers from one to six are distributed between their faces. When they are thrown in the air and fall, one face will be exposed upwards and will be the one that will mark the course of the game. With the dice we obtain the necessary results to advance in the game or to solve a bet.

Nowadays it is also possible to resort to virtual dice or online dice, with which the randomness of the play is maintained, but that have the advantage of being available for anyone at any time, of offering instantly all kinds of dice and rolls and even of offering the possibility of obtaining personalized virtual dice.

The dice have been around for a long time, possibly appearing in the Middle East and in fact the oldest dice found appeared in the region of ancient Mesopotamia (today it would coincide with part of Iraq and Syria). No less than it is presumed that they dated from the 24th century BC.

They were made of baked clay and were not yet cube-shaped, but their functioning is inferred to be the same as that of the present day. One of the ancient games with dice of which we have had the opportunity to know rules and validity has been the Senet. In this game dice are the simplest thing imaginable since they only have two faces so chance determined almost "heads or tails" the movements of the players' pieces on the board.

Something else towards where the sun sets (China, Japan) had their own games that included dice as the Japanese sugoroku.

In Greece and then in Rome gambling was fashionable, even if sometimes the laws forbade it, it is difficult to forbid entertainment, as the history of mankind has shown! The Romans enjoyed gambling and especially dice. They were very popular even among the Emperors themselves. From the Roman culture it extended to the rest of Europe and the clearest example of its validity and roots can be found in a manual written by order of King Alfonso X the Wise: "Diverse games of Chess, dice, and tables with their explanations' '.

With this it is clear that they have been so long among us that they are already part of the culture of the man in general, be it to promote a children's board game or to bet hard with money. Today it is impossible to imagine a movie set in a casino without its craps table, the protagonist playing everything and the dice rolling in slow motion: it is an iconic scene!

There are many dice games, surely we each have a favorite or we play one variety or another more often. Let's try to summarize the game mode of the most popular:

You have five dice with six poker card symbols each: Aces, K, Q, J, eights and sevens. With the help of a cup and traditionally on a green mat, you have to get winning poker combinations (pairs, trios, full house, poker, repoker...) by throwing the dice into or out of the cup (with only one throw per dice). The more pieces left inside, the more mystery there will be in the game. If the next player in the round "believes" the combination that is passed to him, he must bet that he will reach a combination with a higher value. The more you advance in the round the more combinations you bet on, so there is usually a lie involved, hence the name of the game.

One of the most common family games, who hasn't played Parcheesi as a child or as an adult? In this game in which you try to turn the board over with the possibility that another player's chip sends you back to the exit, the dice decide your luck and your advance through the grid.

Another children's classic: you advance through a spiral board to be able to reach the center first, avoiding dangers such as the well, the prison...

Another game that combines poker figures with traditional dice (numbers from 1 to 6). It is played by pointing out the scores of each player on a grid and each of the figures or combinations has a pre-set value in points.

Finally, we are going to talk about the most popular dice game in casinos, Craps, even in online casinos! You will be able to learn the classic rules of the game if you don't know them yet. For your doubts about the variety of online games, in our free games section we explain the rules and how to participate without spending any money, downloading or registering, so you can practice before putting your money into play.

This game has its origin in an earlier, older, English game called Hazard. The current name comes from the French influence and its landing in the current New Orleans, from the word "crapaud" which means "toad" because of the posture that the players adopted when they practiced it in the street sitting on their own heels. In the casino version of this game you play against the house. The basic rules are as follows:

You play with two dice.

The first thing, before throwing anything in the air, is to make your bet (here you bet on what the shooter is going to get, all against the bank) by putting your chips on the table in the box you prefer

There are several rounds and each of them starts with the starting play and the goal is to get points.

You must start the game with a minimum combination, the passing line. This is the most important bet in the game. To overcome it you have to get a seven or an eleven (we refer to the sum of the values of the two dice). You will lose it if you roll two, three or twelve. If you get any other result you roll again (this is known as a "point") trying to get the same number you rolled the first time. If you get it without getting a seven before, you have won.

These are the rules for the player who throws, the others are making different types of bets in favor, against, predicting the result ... that are called different names: Gabela for or against, Come (or not), Single or multiple shot bets ...

In the online version you will see that it is very easy to learn since you can consult the rules of the game as many times as you need. We hope you will try it out and have fun with this classic of casino games.
