Choosing Hair Removal Methods

Hair removal, sometimes called epilation or stripping, is the intentional elimination of visible or sensitive body hair or face hair. This practice originated in Western cultures at the start of the 20th century. It was popularized by the advent of depilatories and other chemicals used for hair removal. With the popularity of hair removal techniques, the scope for its practice widened to include body hair on the legs, arms, buttocks, abdomen and facial areas.

There are two basic methods of removal. Epilation, in which the hair is removed from large areas of the skin, can be painful and may cause skin irritation. Chemical 激光脫毛 involves application of chemicals to the hair. A side effect may be burning or stinging, especially if the chemicals are applied in large areas of the skin. The chemicals remove the hair, but they also destroy healthy skin along with the unwanted hair, leaving the skin looking red, flaky and dull in some areas. Some side effects of chemical removal may include reddening of the skin and mild itching, since the chemicals used in the process react with the skin.

Electrolysis is another common form of hair removal. It involves the use of an electrical current, probably with a pulse, to kill or paralyze the hair follicle. This electrical current is conducted through a small area of skin, usually on the leg, where the hair is to be removed. The electrical current causes damage to the hair follicles by destroying the chemical structure of the protein that makes the follicle tick. In addition, there is a small but significant amount of discomfort associated with electrolysis.

Laser treatments are new on the market and offer permanent removal of hair follicles. By using a series of lasers focused on hair follicles, the follicles are destroyed without causing any harm to the surrounding skin. The laser treatment lasts about a minute and there is no pain involved. Although lasers work well on dark skin, people with fair skin are sometimes able to get laser treatments. Newer lasers are more effective than older lasers, so this method of removal works well for many people.

A more permanent hair removal option is hair grafting. Hair grafted from areas on the body that are not affected by the patient's natural growth is placed onto the treated area. The grafting procedure can take several hours, and the final result is permanent hair reduction over a long period of time. The grafted hair does not have to be of the same color as the skin surrounding it, and the final step of the procedure is to remove the grafts.

Liposuction, or suction lipectomy, is another alternative for removing unwanted body hair. It is sometimes performed to treat conditions such as gynecomastia (enlargement of the male breast). Suction lipectomy is done by making a small incision along the hair-growing site and sucking out the excess blood. A smaller, usually hand-held device is used to perform the lipectomy, and stitches are removed after about a week. This method of liposuction is often effective for mild to moderate cases of excess body hair, but is not recommended for anyone with heart problems, hypertension, diabetes, or hypertension.

Waxing and laser removal offer a convenient and effective way to remove unwanted body hair, but each method comes with its own set of disadvantages. Waxing is messy and can be painful. It can be difficult to keep waxing at bay during the entire month of the cold winter months, and it can be downright uncomfortable for many people. Laser hair removal is effective and relatively painless; however it can be rather uncomfortable for some people because of its need for

multiple treatments.

Both options are effective ways to remove hair, but each has its drawbacks. Waxing takes longer than shaving, can be painful, and can lead to skin irritation in people with sensitive skin. Waxing is also more likely to leave a red, flaky skin area where the hair was removed; however it is less likely to leave a scar. Finally, laser removal can be quite expensive. If you're looking for a permanent solution to your problem, consider epilators or electrolysis, which can permanently remove hair from nearly any area of your body.
